Product Story:
In 1944, Danish designer Wegner began a chain of chairs that were inspired by portraits of Danish merchants sitting in Ming Chairs. This sort of chairs was once the Wishbone Chair (1949), often referred to as the “Y” or “CH-24,” which has been produced by the Danish firm Carl Hansen & Søn since 1950. The son of a shoemaker, Wegner was once trained as a cabinetmaker before attending the School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen, and then he began his career as an architect. Just three years later, Wegner began his own design Place of business, and his work soon caught the attention of the parents at Carl Hansen & Søn. The sunshine, sculptural Wishbone Chair was once exactly what the Hansen company was once in search of to supplement the heavier forms that were popular on the time. Alternatively, the Wishbone was once a challenging chair to make, as this steam-bent solid wood frame demands very best craftsmanship and an intimate knowledge of wood joinery. Even nowadays, the seat remains to be hand woven from paper cord, a durable subject matter developed all through WWII as an alternative choice to jute. The usage of the most productive natural materials, the sculptural Wishbone is made to last for generations and gives outstanding sitting comfort.
